As of today, it is already possible to call a motorcycle cab in Portugal, through the digital platform Ixat, which innovates the Portuguese market for individual passenger transport, the well-known TVDE.
The idea came from Tiago Lousada and Elisabete Anjos Oliveira, which came from the need to create a fast and effective platform for users. Thus was born Ixat, which intends to "draw attention", even by its name, which is CAB backwards in Portuguese.
In an interview with Renascença, Tiago Lousada admits that "when he called a TVDE, they canceled many trips and, in addition to cancelling, he lost a lot of time in traffic". Therefore, he decided to create TVDE on a motorcycle, assuming that it took "a year to develop the idea".
Founded in November 2021, in Porto, the company Ixat Ridesharing has already raised around 100 000 euros from various investors throughout its development.
Ready to start this month, it becomes the only passenger transport platform in Portugal that provides motorcycles with a driver, "most of them 100% electric", according to Ixat’s website.
The age group of those registered is, above all, between 18 and 42 years old, so far. To be an Ixat customer, you just need to be over 16 years old and only one costumer at a time can ride in the passenger seat.
The base price for each trip is six euros, plus 60 cents per kilometre. According to the official website, Ixat is the "TVDE platform that charges the lowest commission in the market".
By the end of this year, the platform's ambassador hopes to have between two and three thousand users registered with Ixat and 200 to 400 drivers. In addition to passenger transport, Ixat also provides couriers, specifically for documents and small packages.
Available to the public as of this Friday, Ixat intends to serve the entire country. In this initial phase, it will have a greater presence in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve region.
