ixat: the motorcycle cab service has arrived in Portugal

The national startup was created with the goal of helping the Portuguese avoid traffic jams in cities, using motorcycle-cabs. 

For now, the service will be available in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve, but the idea is to gradually expand to all continental districts.

Made known today in the city of Porto, the novelty has an application that is already working on Android and IOS. The ixat (upside down taxi same as cab in portuguese) has so far had an investment of over 100,000 euros and is presented as the “only Portuguese platform, also assuming itself as the most economical and offering the greatest benefits for drivers”. In the application there is also space for the startup's associated brands through the offer of discounts, such as the online clothing store SHE by Jlo, the tour operator Cenários D'Ouro or Silence, the official distributor of 100% electric motorcycles.

Tiago Lousada, one of the founders of this startup, says that this is the app “that charges the lowest commission in the market”, which allows “to increase the profitability of drivers and charge users less”.

“It is the only platform that provides motorcycles with driver, with the segments Maxi Scooter and Tourism, most of them 100% electric, our Green Go”, explains, in a statement, Pedro Marques, an Aveiro businessman who invested in the project.

Imagens de Marca had the opportunity to talk to Tiago Lousada who explained that the idea came up in the summer of 2021 when he realized how difficult is was for so many clientes to get a TVDE in the hustle and bustle of big cities. He questioned several drivers who explained why they cancelled their services and that's when the opportunity arrived. That is why in this start-up of ixat, in addition to the motorcycle cab service, a courier service will also be available.

“We wanted to enter the market with a differentiating element, innovative in the country, that would guarantee us the speed of arrival at the destination that many customers are looking for, always in compliance with road safety rules”, reinforce Tiago Lousada and Elisabete Anjos Oliveira, another of the founders.

To IM, Tiago explained that all drivers must be over 25 years old and have a license for three years. A helmet will be provided for the passenger, properly disinfected with each use. There is also space for placing bags. Users of this service must be over 16 years old. Until the end of the year, ixat will enter other market niches.
