The first week of November was marked by another edition of the Web Summit. This was the sixth in-person edition of the world's largest technology and entrepreneurship conference, which took place in Lisbon, in the Parque das Nações area.

The venue that includes Lisbon’s International Fair (FIL) and the Altice Arena brought together 71,033 people, and 2,296 Startups participated in the event. This year's Web Summit beat all its records.

The opening ceremony of the event, created by Irishman Paddy Cosgrave, took place on the holiday of November 1st and included a surprise presence: Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenksa stepped onto the stage of the Altice Arena (the main stage of the Web Summit) and, during her speech, called for technology to be used to help save people.

Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, and Lisa Jackson, responsible for Apple's environmental policy department, also attended the main stage that night. The mayor of Lisbon City Hall, Carlos Moedas, was also present at the opening of the event.

On November 2, 3 and 4, hundreds of conferences took place in a lively and very busy venue, where people from the four corners of the world came together. Several themes were discussed on the various stages that made Web Summit.

In the various stands scattered throughout the five exihibition hall’s of the event, many were the companies that chose to offer the thousands of conference attendees various experiences using the increasingly famous VR glasses.

ixat Ridesharing was present on the November 3th on exihibition hall 1, as Startup ALPHA, next to Google, Samsung, the Ukrainian Government Stand, Intel, among others, being considered one of the 100 Impact Startups present in this edition.

Web3 was another of the protagonists of the 2022 edition: for those who still don’t know, it’s a new phase of the internet that we know and use, where the idea is that there is a decentralization of power and that users can be and navigate on the internet without the need for intermediaries, through blockchain technology.

Still thinking about the future, Generation Z (people born between the second half of the 1990s and 2010) was also the subject of some conferences. The speakers tried to understand several aspects about this new generation, such as what they consume, what influences them, and how they invest.

The Web Summit is returning to Parque das Nações next year, for a new edition that already has already been scheduled for November 13 to 16.
